PERFORMANCE / Children of the Evolution / 2019
In a part scripted and part improvised performance where five children aged between 9 and 13 share their views about a wide variety of topics: schooling, feminism, racism, dyslexia, life and death.
Engaging audiences in discussions sometimes quite ‘random’ in nature, the hosts of Children of the Evolution skilfully and courageously involve audiences in what is ultimately a high risk high reward theatrical experience, one that offers a fresh perspective on the world we live in and the worries, hopes and dreams of its youth.
Co-created by director Jackson Castiglione, Born in a Taxi, and the cast Flynn Murphy, Mani Bishop, Lola McCann, Zara Nawaz and Sunday Orchard Livingstone.
Children of the Evolution was presented as part of Due West Arts Festival, a celebration of local stories and community spirit – inspired by the artists and culture of Melbourne’s West and supported by Creative Victoria.
