INSTALLATION & WORKSHOPS / Final Visions / 2017

Preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best.

Invited to participate in the ACCA (Australian Centre for Contemporary Art) Greater Together exhibition, Field Theory treated ACCA as an inner-city survivalist bunker. The collective and participants stocked and skilled up for the duration of the exhibition.

A section of the gallery was converted into a Melbourne-centric survivalist storeroom and during the course of the exhibition Field Theory hosted a program of six live interviews and workshops with a selection of Melbourne’s special interest clubs. They invited the Anarchist club, Oz Preppers, the Yarn Spinners, the Foragers and rock climbers to join them. Their questions considered: what’s going to happen, what do we need, and are we really Greater Together?

In a time of major geopolitical change and collective anxiety, drawing diverse associations and societies together into collective conversation reinforced the importance of exchange. Together we explored passions, developed skills and imagined an unpredictable future.

P.S Bushy, a self-identified Prepper, predicted a pandemic.
